I host and manage the Screen Yorkshire website. A sub-site of this is the Filmed in Yorkshire site.
About the project
Screen Yorkshire supports the film, TV, games and digital industries across the region. It funds productions, develops talent and promotes Yorkshire as a place to make world-class content.
The organisation runs two public-facing WordPress sites - screenyorkshire.com and filmedinyorkshire.co.uk - which between them serve industry professionals, location scouts, production companies and the wider public.

How I came to the project
Telescopic built the original sites. When they stepped back, I took over as the hosting and maintenance partner. Both sites were already established and well used, which meant there was no room for disruption - I had to get up to speed quickly and keep everything running without missing a beat.
The scale of the project is significant. These are large, content-heavy sites with a lot of moving parts, and keeping them stable and performant is an ongoing responsibility.
The things I did
I migrated both sites to new hosting, making sure the move was clean and caused no downtime for users. Once in place, I worked through a number of technical issues - fixing navigation problems with the menu, tightening up spam protection, and optimising site speed so pages load faster for visitors.
I now handle the ongoing hosting and maintenance for both sites, which means monitoring performance, keeping WordPress and plugins up to date, and dealing with issues as they come up. Maintaining two large sites for a high-profile regional screen agency means reliability is everything - and that is what I focus on.
