This Bog post is about my new Sound Map Logo – for a personal project. I have a hobby that gets me out of the house – I am a Field Recordist. A Field Recordist is someone who tries to capture sounds away from a studio setting – especially of sounds that tell a story.
The visual equivalent is Street Photography.
To undertake this hobby, I have a range of equipment and a website – www.soundmapofharrogate.co.uk – where I post the recordings for the public to hear. It is just a project to get me away from the computer screen, really.
I was quite taken with the plan by British Heritage to create a Sound Map of the British coastline – it was a lot of fun to take part in. So, I set one up for my beloved hometown of Harrogate. However, the graphics were hastily thrown together – I am in the process fo updating most of the graphics on the site to make it more of a pleasing experience to visit.
The first thing on my list was the changing of the logo –
I’m quite happy with how this turned out – the Yellow & Blue are the colours of Yorkshire and the red is a colour associated with action and humanity, passion and forefathers.
