  • Working to a brief
  • Delivering a visually stunning website

Project Brief

I was contacted by Paul, The Aperitif Guy, to find a way to help him find more clients as a freelance hospitality consultant. The site was to showcase recipes and house a blog about fine dining.

The site needed to be visually striking yet balanced and with a good SEO output.

The content needed to stand for itself and not go unnoticed; I need to frame the content.

I built this site all in a browser – relying on feedback from the owner. This was all done online, with minimal f2f contact.

We decided on the large text with a focus on mobile usability. A lot of the site’s visitors will be restaurant or bar owners (Paul helps with cocktail menus) and they will be on the move, wanting information quickly.

Designing Solutions

My aim was to provide an intuitive, frictionless viewing process. I needed to make it obvious what Paul did and I needed plain points of contact. I needed a functioning, clear menu.

Next Steps

I have made a handover, training Paul on how to run the site. I taught him how to maintain the site, and I will help out if he needs me to.

I have built the site, but now I need to sort the SEO.

The site fulfils the brief. I needed to make a calling card for restaurant owners and keep them on the website. there will be ample scope for revision later down the line.
